“mundo, musgo, angelita”

April 11 and 12th, 2024, Roque Raquel Salas Rivera and Aurelio “Yeyo” Lima Dávila formed part of the Latinx Literature NOW! Symposium organized by Daniel Borzutzky at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Other invited speakers included Cecilia Vicuña, Susan Briante, Farid Matuk, and Giancarlo Huapaya. During the symposium, these poets and artists explored documentary, performance, and translation present in their work and how they see their work in relation to the Americas.

They performed “mundo, musgo, angelita” in honor of the great poet Ángela María Dávila, Yeyo’s mother. The performance included audio recordings of Dávila reading her work, interpretations by the actor and translations by Salas Rivera. On April 15, 2024, they performed “mundo, musgo, angelita” at Pilsen Community Bookstore.
